About MeMy name is Bekah, I'm in my thirties and I love to travel the world.
As a child I holidayed most years with my family in Europe, quite often in France and we also went camping a lot. The first time I went on a plane I was 14 and we went to Tunisia. Soon after that I went on a school skiing trip to Canada and then later a family holiday to Florida. But it wasn't until I was 17 that I really experienced traveling. I went to South Africa on a month long Expedition with a company called World Challenge; read more about this trip here- Getting Bitten By The Travel Bug. My next trip came after I finished University. I went to Peru for six weeks. The first four and half week's I spent living in the Amazon rainforest on a conservation project (look out for a Blog post coming soon) and then for the final week and a half I travelled on my own to Cuzco and the Sacred Valley and then down to Lake Titicaca. Six months after returning from Peru I set off again, this time on an overland trip from Nairobi to Cape Town. I did this on my own through a company called Absolute Africa. Look out for more about this trip and my African adventures coming soon, in the meantime have a read of this post- My Beloved Africa My next big trip was not until 2010, and this was my Round the World trip, something I had dreamt about doing for a long time. This time I went with my cousin Tim. Now I try and get away to new places as much as possible. Last year I went to Dubai, Croatia, Slovenia, Brussels and Iceland. And as always I am planning my next big trip away. I love to try extreme adventures when I travel. I’ve skydived in Swakopmund, Namibia and Queenstown, New Zealand, white water rafted down the Zambezi and bungee jumped from the bridge between Zimbabwe and Zambia at Victoria Falls. I also love wildlife adventures, as you can see from my bucket list choices. So far my most memorable moments are walking lions at Antelope Park, tracking Rhino’s on foot in a nature reserve in Zimbabwe, trekking to see Mountain Gorillas in Rwanda and my absolute favourite helping to hand rear an ophaned baby Tapir in the Peruvian rainforest. Not including the UK I’ve been to 33 counties on 6 of the 7 continents- USA, Canada, Peru, Tunisia, Kenya, Uganda, Rwanda, Tanzania, Malawi, Zambia, Zimbabwe, Botswana, Namibia, South Africa, Spain, France, Germany, Italy, Belgium, Bulgaria, Croatia, Slovenia, Iceland, Thailand, Laos, Vietnam, Cambodia, Malaysia, Singapore, Australia, New Zealand, Fiji, and the United Arab Emirates. I have been to 9 American states- Arizona, California, Colorado, Florida, Nevada, New York, South Dakota, Utah, and Wyoming. I have also been to Washington D.C. which is neither a state or in a state. |
