Highlight: Barcelona, Spain- Barcelona is the capital of Catalonia and the second largest city in Spain. There is something for everyone here whether it is festivals, art, cutlure, food, drink or football. Points of interest include work by the master architect Antonio Gaudí including Sagrada Familia, Park Güuell, La Pedrera and Casa Batilo. Also take a stroll along Barcelona's most famous street La Rambla, this vibrant boulevard bustles with artists, fortune tellers, musicians and dancers. Take a seat at one of the many cafes and watch the world go by. Highlight: Edinburgh, Scotland- Edinburgh is the capital of Scotland, its located in the south-east of Scotland and is the country's second largest city. If you like Festivals then Edinburgh has got to be top of your list of places to visit, taking place throughout the year, there are many to choose from. Including Edinburgh Mela Festival, The Internation Film Festival, Arts, Storytelling, Jazz & Blues, as well as the world famous Edinburgh Festival Fringe. Highlight: Amsterdam, The Netherlands- Amsterdam is the capital of the Netherlands. When thinking about Amsterdam the first images that spring to mind tend to be Windmills, cafes, clogs and Tulips. These are all part of the unique sights, sounds and experiences of Amsterdam, but there are also many more.....including great museums, a maze of canals, flea markets and the home of Anne Frank. A great way to tour the city is by bike, a quintessentially Dutch way of getting around. Highlight: Croatia- Croatia is a country situated in the Balkans and in Central Europe. It is to the east side of the Adriatic Sea. Its Capital and largest City is Zagrab. Croatia is really up and coming and has been included in a number of list as a top destination for 2013, so definitely a place to visit sooner rather than later. If you fancy an activity holiday Croatia is well suited for walking, hiking, cycling, sailing and diving. Or if music is your passion why not try one of Croatia's festivals, they are fast making a noise on the European festival scene. Hightlight: St Petersburg, Russia- St Petersburg is located on the Eastern shore of the Baltic Sea. This beautiful city has a number of famous attractions including The Hermitage Museum, St Issacs Cathedral, and the Marlinsky Theatre. The most popular time of year to visit is during summer when you can experience the ledgendary White Nights. This runs from May to mid-July when the sun goes below the horizon for not much more than an hour around midnight. This results in round the clock celebrating as the city takes on a dreamlike atmosphere. If you would rather visit for culture than spring or autumn maybe a better time as most institutions shut from the end of June to September. Or if you can brave the cold why not visit during the winter months and see this great northern cty covered in a blanket of snow. You can always have a few vodka's to fight the chill. Highlight: Istanbul, Turkey- Istanbul is the largest city in Turkey. After a busy day at the Grand Bazaar or discovering the Topkapi Palace blow off some steam in a hamam. A haman is a Turkish Bath and is one of Istanbul's hedonistic highlights. Highlight: Brighton beach, England- Brighton is a seaside city on the south coast of England. It was recently voted one of the Top Ten city beach destinations in the world and it is not hard to see why. The famous pebble beach and pier are great for tradition seaside attractions but the atmosphere along the beach front is also very cosmopolitan. Take a wonder down the promenade, stop at one of the cafes or art galleries, and then come back at night for a taste of the club culture. Highlight: Greece- Greece is a country in south-east Europe, the Capital and largest city is Athens. When visiting Greece you can combine exploring ancient archaeological sites, with shopping, museums, vibrant nightlife, and beautiful islands. The 6000 islands of The Greek Archipelago offer sandy beaches, sand-dunes, pebble beaches, sheltered bays, coastal caves, and as well as swimming in the crystal blue waters you can scuba dive, snorkel, water ski, sail and windsurf. |
